On a small archipelago in the heart of the Gulf of the Saint Lawrence is Verrerie La Méduse. Here, in the idyllic setting of les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, local artisans have produced extraordinary glass objets d’art for over twenty years.
Housed in a century-old schoolhouse, La Méduse consists of a studio where blown glass objects are designed and produced and a boutique where the objects are displayed. The glass comes in a variety of themes including medusas (jellyfish), fruits and vegetables, plates, pots and sculptures, all created from glass and offered in a wide range of sumptuous colours.
A visit to Verrerie La Méduse is an unforgettable experience. Interpretive panels explain the glassblowing process, and from a viewing area the artisans can be seen at their craft.
